Prescott Day Trip: Located 1.5 Hours  West of Sedona


Best Hikes in Prescott

  • Prescott Peavine National Recreation Area: This easy hike offers great views of Watson Lake and Granite Dells. The trail is accessible and a good choice for observing wildlife, jogging, taking sunset photography. Allow 3.5 - 4 hours to complete this hike. (Map It)
  • Thumb Butte: Moderate hike with medium levels of traffic and wonderful views of Prescott National Forest. This hike is great at sunrise or sunset. Allow 2.5 hours to complete the hike (Map It)
  • Constellation Trail: Moderate hike with great exposure to the area;s unique granite rocks. This his is wonderful at sunset and has good exposure to the sun in the middle of the day. Allow 2 - 3 hours to complete this hike and it's neighboring trails (Map It)
  • Granite Mountain Trail: Hard hike to the most beautiful overlook in Prescott. Although the trail has been effected by recent forest fires it still offers great solitude and inspiring views of the beautiful ponderosa forest of Prescott National Forest (Map It)

SUP/Kayak/Boat Rentals

  • Watson Lake Kayak/Canoe Rentals (Prescott Outdoors): This site is awesome and the area leading down to the water can be easily accessed. This would be a wonderful site to explore the awe-inspiring Granite Dells and view the amazing wildlife around the lake. The boat ramp at Watson Lake is low grade to the water and could be handicap accessible if needed. 
  • Lynx Lake Boat Rentals: Offering kayaks, canoes, paddleboats, and electric boats for fishing. Good forest access and a small, but very charming little lake. Getting to this boat ramp is not handicap accessible from the north side.
